Beech (Fagus sylvatica) is a European temperate hardwood.

Due to its cellular structure, the species is good for bending (once steamed) and therefore predominantly used for furniture work.

Although Beech is a perishable (non-durable) species, it has a fairly high density (approx. 720kg/m3) making it ideal for door frames, lipping’s etc. that require a fire rating.

We stock the species in a sawn / sanded finish (consistency of thickness) and in a variety of different thicknesses.
